Elaine has over 22 years of experience in conveyancing transactions and as such you can be sure that you will receive all the advice and assistance that you require whether you are buying or selling your property. She has a wealth of knowledge regarding the local area which can be invaluable whether you are new to the area or have lived here for years. She recently moved house herself and firmly believes that every conveyancer should have to move house regularly to remind themselves of the stresses and strains involved.

What would be your advice to anyone looking for a Conveyancer? It’s good to shop around but remember that cheapest is not always best. Moving house can be a very stressful experience and you need to know that you can trust the person in charge of the transaction and speak to them when you need to .It’s likely that this is the biggest financial commitment you are going to make and if you are worried about any aspect then the last thing you want is to call your solicitor and find that you are being routed through a call centre and can’t get through to the person you want to speak to. I really believe in offering a personal service and strive to be available to speak to clients when they ring or to call them back as soon as possible.

What do you find most enjoyable about working in the Conveyancing Department? It has to be when I can phone clients and tell them that the transaction has gone through and that the house is actually now theirs - it’s such an exciting time for people and it’s nice to be able to share that.

What’s the worst aspect of your job? Unfortunately not everything does always go to plan no matter how hard you try or how organised you are. If there is a chain of transactions then there can be a lot of people involved and you simply have to rely on others to complete their part of the process.

What has been your most surreal day as a Conveyancer? I once received an enquiry from a potential buyer asking me to confirm if there was any poltergeist activity at the property he wanted to purchase! I simply had to reply, “Not as far as I am aware”!

If you weren’t working in conveyancing what would you be doing instead? I think that I would probably have become a primary school teacher.
